The Maine Summer Adventure Race is an annual event designed to showcase the most beautiful parts of the Midcoast region of Maine.
In 2018, racers will choose one of three races: a 1-3 hour beginner race, an 8-10 hour intermediate race, or a 24-hour advanced race.
The 2017 version of the race featured a 3-hour beginner and family race and a 10-hour premier race. Both races took participants through the woods and out on the water in a search for hidden checkpoints.
Previous editions of the race have featured hiking or trail running, biking on Maine's bucolic back roads (and optional mountain biking), sea kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, and orienteering.
Both races are hosted by the Midcoast Conservancy and designed by the members of Strong Machine Adventure Racing. All proceeds from the race benefit the Midcoast Conservancy.
