Are you ready for a day of adventure in the beautiful Maine wilderness?
Now in its seventh year, the Maine Summer Adventure Race promises to deliver a full day of adventure, sending racers out to explore Maine's thick pine forests, deep cold lakes and rivers, and its windy roads and trails.
The 2025 Maine Summer AR will be a 24-hour race designed to be the premier one-day race in New England. There will also be a 8-hour and 3-hour events this year for teams looking to for a shorter challenge. Teams will race nonstop by foot, bike, and boat through remote and rarely visited areas of Maine.
Registration fees for all races including includes race t-shirt, swag bag, maps, boats, paddles, PFDs, prizes and giveaways, facility and land-use fees, and a post-race feast, including local fare, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options and a featured local microbrew.

TEAM CATEGORIES
Both races will feature the following team categories:
- Mixed premier: 3- or 4-person mixed gender teams
- Open premier: 3- or 4-person same-sex teams
- 2-person mixed gender
- 2-person single-sex
- Solos considered upon request
24-Hour race course information
- Race start time: 10 a.m. on Saturday 7/12/2025
- Estimated minimum distances will be posted soon. Estimated distances by discipline for all optional checkpoints are: 25 miles trekking, 80 miles biking, 20 miles paddling.
- Mountain bikes are required (no road bikes)
- There will be no packrafting for the 2025 edition of the race.
8-hour race course information
- Race start time: 8:00am on Saturday 7/12/25
- Estimated minimum distances will be posted soon. Extra, optional checkpoints will add to the total distances traveled in each of those disciplines.

3-hour race course information
- Race start time: 12 p.m. on Saturday 7/12/25
- The all checkpoints on the 3-hour course are optional so the minimum distance will be as short as your team chooses it to be.
- The 3-hour event is a foot event with optional biking. Biking will be on paved and rougher trail surfaces.
- The 3-hour event is family-friendly and appropriate for racers of all ages.
USARA membership
The Maine Summer Adventure Race is a USARA-sanctioned event. Racers must either have an annual USARA membership or purchase a single-event license through RunSignUp. Annual membership is instrumental in sustaining USARA’s efforts to support the U.S.-based AR community and host an annual national championship. In addition to supporting the community as a whole and having single-event fees waived, annual membership includes access to ExpertVoice, which unlocks pro-deals on hundreds of name brands. Anti-doping policy
As a USARA-sanctioned event, the Maine Summer Adventure Race adheres to USARA’s anti-doping policies. It is each athlete’s responsibility to uphold the integrity of the competition and reputation of adventure racing as a clean sport through educated use of supplements, medicines, and other treatments and to understand what is permissible according to USARA standards. In addition to contributing to a level playing field for all competitors, USARA’s policies are designed to help athletes learn more about the medications, substances, and methods they use for the sake of long-term health. USARA’s stance on the importance of anti-doping and helpful resources contributing to a greater understanding of the consequences of doping infractions (medicinal, supplemental, or mechanical) can be found on USARA’s website.
